Emberfall Legends

Emberfall Legends is the kind of RPG that trusts you to read. The world it builds around a fading capital is grim in a good way, and the writing carries the early hours before the combat fully opens up.

Fights are turn-based and lean on positioning. You'll spend real time deciding where to place each party member, since flanking and terrain both matter. Once you get comfortable with the class synergies, the harder encounters turn into puzzles you actually enjoy solving.

Progression is generous without being mindless. Skill trees branch in ways that reward planning, and respeccing is cheap enough that you can experiment. Our only gripe is that the mid-game inventory management gets fiddly.
